Growing with Our Donors
At The Generosity Trust, empowering Christian Giving is what we do. We love making the giving process easier for donors, helping them make grants to more of their favorite causes both locally and nationally. The last three years have been an unprecedented season of growth for The Generosity Trust. The reason behind the growth is simple: God is good, and his people are generous. We simply have the privilege of assisting donors who want to share the resources that God has entrusted to them.
We’ve experienced growth in three key areas:
- Donors: The Generosity Trust is serving more donors than ever before. More donors means more funds going to ministries and organizations in Chattanooga and around the world. Even better, donors are giving more than cash. They are donating appreciated assets like stocks and real estate. They are also using charitable trusts to accomplish their long-term financial goals. And more donors are choosing our basic Donor-Advised Fund with no fees and no minimum balances.
- Affinity Groups: Over the last few years, we’ve been privileged to help launch giving circles with people who share a common interest. We have active groups for millennials, the Latino community, women, and those serving the African American community. TGT enjoys the opportunity to convene groups and encourage collaboration in impacting their respective focus areas. The Giving Circles even have their own events often attended by hundreds.
- Operating Systems: The growth in donors to The Generosity Trust has forced us to grow as an organization. In 2022, we upgraded our infrastructure to enable us to better support more donor activity. This upgrade included our internal accounting systems as well as our donor portal. Donors can now contribute to their fund, monitor activity, and recommend grants all online. It is easier to give and grant than ever before.
As we grow, we are also adding human resources to support our donors. Meet three recent and important additions to the staff at The Generosity Trust.

Cathy Patterson, Staff Accountant
Cathy joined TGT in June 2023 as a staff accountant. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with an accounting degree and MBA.
She started her career in accounting and shifted gears to her favorite role as a full-time mom. Cathy served in various volunteer roles in preschool and children’s ministry at church and at her son’s school, Chattanooga Christian School. During this time, she completed her MACE at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and went on to serve in staff ministry roles at a couple of local churches. The last several years she began shifting back to accounting in the non-profit field.
Cathy and her husband James are Chattanooga natives and have one son, Joseph, and daughter-in-law, Madison. They attend Calvary Chapel Chattanooga. She loves giraffes, Sudoku, puzzles, and watching the birds with her cat and dog.
